The first gameplay footage from Horizon Forbidden West has been released, running directly on PS5. The roughly 14 minutes of gameplay showcased the game’s lush new open-world at immense fidelity, as you can see from the 4K gameplay video uploaded after the State of Play showcase.
Since the released gameplay video is 30 FPS, we don’t know if the final game will include a performance mode, much like a lot of other PS5 games. Considering Forbidden West is also releasing on PS4, it’s safe to assume that a 60 FPS mode at a lower resolution is quite possible. There has been no indication of the game using ray tracing just yet, although the boost in fidelity is clearly noticeable, even if it is a compressed video.
Sony is betting high on this ambitious sequel, with the PS5’s stellar launch lineup complemented by Returnal and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart releasing in the post-launch window, the PS5 is shaping up to double down on what worked with the PS4.
Horizon Forbidden West will release this year on PS4 and PS5.
