WB Games has revealed the first look at Gotham Knights, the next game in the Batman Universe. Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin and Red Hood are playable characters, who join together to save Gotham after Batman’s (apparent) demise in an open-world.

Introducing an original story set in DC’s Batman Universe, Gotham Knights offers a dynamic and interactive Gotham City where an exploding criminal element has swept through the streets. With Belfry as their base of operations, this new era of heroes will solve mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history & must defeat notorious villains in epic confrontations. Players must save Gotham from a descent into chaos and reinvent themselves into their own version of the Dark Knight.

The game was revealed at DC Fandome with a first-look trailer, then expanded upon by a gameplay video that shows all characters’ (somewhat) unique playstyles. Check out the gameplay demo here:

It’s interesting to note how all superhero games in the near future (Avengers, Suicide Squad) are team-based with co-op/online focus rather than being a focused linear game. WB Games has also released a bunch of screenshots from the game:

  • Batgirl in Gotham Knights
  • Nightwing in Gotham Knights
  • Red Hood in Gotham Knights
  • Robin in Gotham Knights

Gotham Knights will release in 2021. It has been confirmed to be a single/ 2-player co-op experience for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC.
