GIGABYTE has revealed a new high-end gaming laptop: the AORUS X9, possessing a Core i7-7820HK and twin GTX1070, through SLI. The laptop comes with a 17.6” anti-reflective coated 4K UHD or QHD display.
The rest of the specifications include:
It possesses 4 DDR4 RAM slots, supporting a maximum of 64GB DDR4-2400 memory
Two 1TB M.2 PCIe SSDs and one 2.5’ HDD (Maximum Storage Capacity)
One Thunderbolt 3 (Type-C) port, one USB 3.1 Type-C (10GBps) port and three USB 3.1 (5Gbps) port
A Mini-DisplayPort (v3.1) and HDMI 2.0
A separate 3.5 mm headphone jack and 3.5 mm microphone jack
The laptop’s build follows a “maximum aluminium” philosophy, with a raised lid, resembling a falcon’s beak. The chassis comes with RGB lighting, while a RGB indicator on top of the lid, called the AORUS HUD, indicates info such as CPU/GPU temp, battery level, volume level etc. This can also be synchronized with the chassis lighting.
The laptop has a maximum thickness of 1.18”, due to the two GPUs, and its quad-cooling fan system with 8 heatpipes for dissipating heat from the various components. Two vents in the shape of a falcon’s head, are present at the front, which act as an inlet for cool air. In addition, the exhaust vent is present at the back of the laptop. The slightly large size of the exhaust vent gives a slight incline to the keyboard, which users may find comfortable for long term usage. It comes with a mechanical keyboard with RGB-backlit Cherry MX Brown keys as well.
GIGABYTE has also gone ahead to provide a Quad Audio setup (two speakers & two woofers), together with an ESS Sabre HiFi Audio DAC, which can provide a very large impedence range, supporting lossless audio across multiple headphones.
One of the main features of this laptop is its Killer Doubleshot Pro functionality. Provided by Rivet Networks, this piece of tech accomplishes very efficient traffic management through the E2500 ethernet port and the AC 1535 dual-band WiFi Card. Through this, any real-time traffic (like gaming) is routed through the WIFi adapter, while other lower priority traffic is routed by the Ethernet port.
Currently there are two configurations available as of now: the X9-KL4K4M with a 512GB SSD plus 1TB 7200rpm HDD, while the Newegg Exclusive Edition has 2 x 512GB SSDs. Both configs come with 2 x 16GB DDR4-2400 RAM and a 17.3” UHD Display. The price of the laptop starts at $1749, with the the X9-KL4K4M costing $3649. The price of the Newegg Exclusive Edition will be revealed later.
