    Far Cry 5 - Ubisoft

Far Cry 5 is the latest entry in Ubisoft’s long running Far Cry Franchise. The release date is almost here, and reviewers have already gotten the early code for it. DSOG has reported that Far Cry 5 runs nicely on PC.

As per DSOG, the game has a decent number of configurable graphics settings, explained well for the less aware audience and just like all of the recent Ubisoft games, also features a built-in benchmark tool.

They tested Far Cry 5 on an Intel i7 4930K (overclocked at 4.2Ghz) with 8GB RAM, the older NVIDIA’s GTX980Ti, Windows 10 64-bit with the latest drivers. On Ultra at 1080p, the game rendered at an average of 85 FPS and a minimum of 72 FPS.

Far Cry 5Far Cry Primal suffered from CPU utilization issues, where the CPU would be locked to only one thread, causing performance issues, stuttering and low minimum framerate. DSOG’s testing seems to confirm that Far Cry 5 is free of that CPU utilization bug, as well as any stuttering.

No stuttering was observed even when loading the game on a standard HDD, instead of an SSD. Far Cry 5 is rumored to be leveraging the Denovo anti-privacy measures.

All the Far Cry games since Far Cry 2 have been built on the Dunia engine, and although most of them have had a rather smooth launch in comparison to some other Ubisoft title (Assassin’s Creed Unity, lookin’ at you), there have always been certain issues plaguing every title. Far Cry 3 had an AO bug, Far Cry 4 and Primal had CPU utilization issues and so on.

Far Cry 5 releases on the PC, PS4 and the Xbox One on 27th March. The preloading should go live shortly. Keep in mind though, these are still preliminary tests and some issues might be hidden underneath. A full performance should be up in the next 48 hours. Stay tuned!
