In a rather unexpected move, Tesla CEO Elon Musk smoked marijuana during a live US web show. The web show hosted by comedian Joe Rogan was streamed live for about two-and-a-half-hours on Thursday.
Musk talked about artificial intelligence, his recent social media rants and a bunch of other issues surrounding his billion dollar company. Marijuana is legal in California, so Musk won’t have to worry about law enforcement agencies knocking on his door, but it won’t do much to help Tesla’s already volatile stocks.
As the US exchanges opened on Friday, Tesla’s shares had already fallen by 1.4% and by evening that figure swelled to 9%. Earlier Musk had landed himself in a series of controversies (and memes), as he called the British diver, who carried out the Thailand soccer team’s rescue a “pedo-guy”. He followed up this controversy by claiming that he was planing to take Tesla private.
By coining the now infamous phrase, “funds secured” he became an internet meme, but later announced that he had given up on the idea.
He however (while smoking weed) said that he rarely smoked pot, as it was bad for productivity, and during his long rant complained that keeping Tesla afloat is actually a daunting task and it’s one of the hardest jobs he’s ever had to do.
