    EasySMX VIP002S RGB Gaming Headphones

I have been using the EasySMX VIP002S RGB Gaming Headsets for over a month now, and here I’ll discuss all the things that I like and dislike about these gaming headphones.

EasySMX is a gaming peripheral brand aimed at providing quality gaming products at an affordable price. Being just a casual gamer, I am not in the favor of spending too much on my gaming gear since it wouldn’t be used that much so I am always looking for decent performing products, available at a sensible price. And to be honest, these pair of headphones from EasySMX might have solved this issue for me.

EasySMX VIP002S RGB Gaming Headset is an affordable pair of headphones that retails at $39.99. It is a versatile headphone and can be used with PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Mobile, and Nintendo Switch. It features an omnidirectional noise-canceling microphone, and a patented RGB lighting adjustment button.

    THE GOOD

One of the best things about this pair of headphones is the tight and snug fit that it provides. It is just the right amount of tightness where it feels secure around your head without being uncomfortable. These headphones can be worn continuously for hours without any problem at all. This level of comfort is achieved because of its cushioning, which is made of memory foam and feels quite nice around your ear, and the adjustable and bendable headband.

The body is plastic, but it does not have a glossy finish that most of the products made of plastic have, it rather has a matte finish which really gives it a premium look. It has a very long, thick braided cable and the quality of the wire is top-notch. These headphones feel heavy neither in your hands nor on your head. The ear-cups aren’t rigid, there’s room for slight adjustment according to the head shape ensuring a comfortable fit for anyone who puts them on.

Coming to the sound quality, what I feel about it can be described in just one word – Unexpected. The sound is wide, clear and crisp. The sound distribution between the two ear-cups is quite good which makes the gaming experience even more immersive, giving an idea about which direction the sound is coming from. This feature, although a basic one, could be quite crucial when it comes to competitive gaming.

The bass is tight, the vocals are clear, these headphones can be used for listening to music, no doubt about it. The headphones are able to catch and deliver even the smallest detail while gaming. The overall sound profile is quite pleasing and as mentioned before, for this price range, totally unexpected. The volume on these is controlled by a circular dial on the left ear-cup which is quite convienient.

The omnidirectional microphone provides a much superior audio quality to what you get from an ordinary pair of headphones or earphones in this price range. The audio was absolutely clear with no muffling of any sort. The mic can be switched on or off using the button present below the dial on the left ear-cup.

One of the things that really stand out, at least for me, is that how the gaming aspect of this headphone is toned down a bit. The design is quite mild, not very aggressive like most of the gaming-centric products. The RGB lighting which surrounds the dials on both the ear-cups is quite subtle and looks nice. The lighting can be controlled using the dial on the right ear-cup. Rotating the dial changes the color of the lights and rotating it all the way till the end will activate the automatic color mode where the lighting fades to a different color automatically in a cyclic way.

    THE BAD

EasySMX VIP002S RGB Gaming Headsets have no corners cut when it comes to the hardware. These headphones sell for quite a low price, considering the level of performance they deliver is comparable to headphones which are much more expensive. The probable reason behind that could be the complete lack of software tweaks and enhancements. These headphones have no dedicated control panel or configuration software to fine-tune your audio input and output according to your needs. These features are not deal breakers but could matter to some users.

One of the problems in the design is the placement of an LED on/off indicator for the mic. The microphone can be controlled using the button present on the left ear-cup and don’t get me wrong, an LED to indicate whether the mic is on or not is a great idea but could have been implemented in a better way on these headphones. The problem is that while wearing the headphones, the light faces “away” from the user, so there’s no way you can tell whether the microphone is on or not without completely taking off the headphones. Even if I decide to ignore this certain aspect, you can’t ignore the fact that the microphone button doesn’t work at all when used with a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One and stays in ‘On’ state all the time unless, of course, you change the console settings.

The cable, although quite sturdy and strong, has its own share of problems. The cable is split into two different connectors, a USB connector and a 3.5mm connector. The USB is used to only power the RGB lighting while the 3.5mm plug is for the audio input. The problem here is that the split point of the cable gives about 12 inches to each connector, but there’s no way to adjust their individual lengths. This mean you can only use the RGB if you have a USB connector close to the 3.5mm jack.

    CONCLUSION

Bottom line, the EasySMX VIP002S RGB Gaming Headset ticks all the boxes when it comes to the things you’d want from a pair of good gaming headphones. They sound good, they are comfortable to wear for long durations, and yeah, they have RGB. Sure, there’re some problems but none of them are deal breakers and won’t affect the majority of the users.

Are these headphones worth buying? Absolutely. The price at which these are available, there’s no better alternative. Obviously, these won’t give you the same performance as high-end headphones from Razer, Corsair, HyperX etc. But it’ll surely give the entry to mid-level headphones from the big brands a run for their money, and even those cost a lot more than these.

EasySMX VIP002S RGB Gaming Headsets aren’t made for the professional hard-core gamers, these are for the casual, regular gamers who don’t want to spend big bucks on gaming headphones but don’t want to sacrifice the quality and performance too. It’ll be tough for anyone to find a better pair of gaming headphones with all the features as EasySMX VIP002S RGB Gaming Headsets in this price range. Hundred percent recommended.
