CD Prokekt Red’s hotly anticipated RPG Cyberpunk 2077 may be far from release, but details regarding every facet of the game have started trickling out. After the gameplay reveal yesterday, someone has leaked the graphics menu of the PC version and it seems that Cyberpunk will be another NVIDIA partner title, with support for NVIDIA Raytracing and Hairworks.
This is not wholly unexpected given the Polish developer’s previous game was also an NVIDIA sponsored title, equipped with NVIDIA HBAO and Hairworks. Although, the effects looked drop dead gorgeous, no complaint there, but Hairworks reduced the FPS by a sizeable chunk, even on top-end NVIDIA GPUs.
The AMD Radeon graphics cards on the other hand were just plain butchered, though I see no reason for them to support NVIDIA proprietary effects, but it is still quite unethical. The performance impact was later alleviated through a series of patches, courtesy of CD Projekt Red and NVIDIA, but the wounds still haven’t fully healed.
The image certainly looks legit, with a layout similar to that of the Witcher 3. As per the leaked image, these settings are from a pre-alpha build of Cyberpunk 2077 and the fact that the Gameworks are present at such an early stage is quite glaring. Usually, they are added in the beta or sometimes even in the final release of the game.
The screenshot shows four, presets, low, medium, high, ultra and overkill. The individual graphics settings include reflections, shadows, textures, geometry and of course the NVIDIA GW effects. From what I can tell, it looks like the real deal and the facts line up too. Anywho, here’s to hoping that the game will run well on all hardware.
