Cross-play between Steam and Xbox does already exist in a handful of titles, but this recently revealed code could signal the start of a far more extensive cross-play environment between the two.

Valve has not yet made any official statements about the new code but should the changes some to pass, there will definitely be greater pressure from the gaming community advocating for a more integrated gaming environment from other console manufactures.
