Recently, rumors about a new Prince of Persia game have been all-over the internet. With multiple domain registrations, to teases by Ubisoft, fans have been enticed for a new entry in the popular franchise. Now suddenly, out of nowhere, a 3 min long footage of an 8 year old in-development PoP game has emerged.

This has come to notice thanks to insider @ZhugeEX:

After a bit of digging, it came up to be a Gameplay Trailer for a purported Prince of Persia reboot.

The LinkedIn profile for Christophe Prelot, former employee of Ubisoft, lists work as a 3D level artist from April 2010 to 2011 on a cancelled Prince of Persia game that would have released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Considering this footage was uploaded the next year, it makes a lot of sense.

In 2018, Ubisoft assistant technical director Marc-Andre Belleau even left a comment on the video, asking, “Where did you get that?!”

    Watch the footage here:

The game looks like something that you’d get if you mixed Uncharted with some God of War-esque action-sequences set in the good old PoP world. The movement looks a bit too fast, almost as if he had been bitten by a radio-active spider that gave him spider-crawling powers. But that’s fine considering it’s just a work-in-progress project, that didn’t see the light of the day, sadly.

So, yeah. An actual new Prince of Persia game was on the way to last gen consoles, until it was cancelled. Fascinating to find this 8 years late. The uploader had most likely set the video Private or unlisted until recently.

What are your thoughts on the gameplay? Let us know in the comments.
