Ben Stiller and Oscar Isaac are all set to team up for a new movie titled London. Stiller will direct Isaac for the Lionsgate film, which is an adaptation of a short story by the author of The Snowman, Headhunters and The Son, Jo Nesbo.

Oscar-winner screenwriter Eric Roth will be writing London for the big screen. The movie will be produced by both Stiller and Isaac. Roth won an Oscar for his work in Forrest Gump and was last nominated for A Star Is Born.

Isaac obtained the rights for the story and he and Jason Spire will produce the movie via his Mad Gene Media banner. On the other hand, Stiller, via his Red Hour production, will also produce London along with Nicky Weinstock. Along with them, author Jo Nesbo will executively produce the project, along with Niclas Salomonsson. Brady Fujikawa and Scott O’Brien will oversee the movie for Lionsgate.

However, as of now, the plot details are still vague.

Stiller is known for directing several movies such as Reality Bites, The Cable Guy, Zoolander, Tropic Thunder and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. He won a DGA Award for directing Showtime’s series Escape at Dannemora. That movie starred Benicio del Toro, Paul Dano and Patricia Arquette. He also won a pair of Emmy nominations for it, including his first for directing. Stiller had won an Emmy previously as a writer on The Ben Stiller Show, 25 years ago.

On the other hand, Isaac won a Golden Globe for the HBO limited series Show Me a Hero. Two years before that, he earned his first Golden Globe nomination for Inside Llewyn Davis. Isaac will also be seen in Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune reboot and Paul Schrader‘s The Card Counter. He will be paired with Tye Sheridan, Tiffany Haddish and Willem Dafoe in the latter.

As stated above, Roth had previously won an Oscar for Forrest Gump. He was nominated in four other instances for Michael Mann‘s The Insider, Steven Spielberg‘s Munich, David Fincher‘s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Bradley Cooper‘s of A Star Is Born.

Although not much is known about London, Deadline noted that people who have read the story mention it to be a “high concept thriller”.

“This is an incredible team of filmmaking that has come together for this project. Eric is a master storyteller whose screenplays are canonized in film history; Ben’s work as a filmmaker, including his latest accomplishment, Escape at Dannemora, is astounding; Oscar is a force in all that he does, both behind and in front of the camera,” said Erin Westerman, president of production for Lionsgate.

“As Eric adapts Jo Nesbo’s evocative and memorable short story into an incredible film, we’re confident that Ben will bring all of the tension and emotion in directing London and Oscar will not only give a riveting and dynamic performance, but as the producer leading the process to bring this team together, has an incredible energy and passion for the material,” he added.
