ARM’s company memo allegedly stated that the design contained “USorigin technology”. If this is true, Huawei is in a lot of trouble. To put things in perspective, almost every cell phone uses ARM-based technology in some way. The company will not only be locked out of Google’s software ecosystem but also lose the ability to develop its own ARM-based chips.

So far, both the companies have declined to comment on this development, However, according to the latest developments, HiSilicon – Huawei’s Kirin processor division has been secretly developing products to reduce dependency on US firms. The company has also been stockpiling components for this eventuality. Huawei aims to become self-sufficient.
