iPhone 12 Event on October 13th: Apple just sent out invites for their next iPhone event. The virtual event will take place on October 13th, 2020 at 10:30 PM (in India) and will be live-streamed on Apple’s YouTube page and on Apple’s Events website. No member of media has been invited to the event, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The event is expected to be held on the same locations as last month’s event — Steve Jobs Theater, Apple Park, Cupertino, California.

Apple has been following the same format, since the shift to an online-only event, where they showcase a pre-recorded event.

New iPhone 12 Series: What to Expect?

    iPhone 12 Pro

The invites sent out earlier today have a tagline — Hi, Speed — which emphasises on the fact that Apple is going to focus on the speed improvements on new iPhone 12 series. The new iPhone series is expected to packs Apple’s latest A14 Bionic chip, whose benchmarks were leaked earlier this week, and feature 5G — hence, ‘Speed’.

Leaked screenshots claimed 120Hz refresh rate on iPhone 12 Pro — But it isn’t happening

This year’s iPhone lineup will feature four iPhones, two cheaper iPhone 12 models — at 5.4 inches and 6.1 inches — successor to iPhone 11, and two high-end Pro models with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens.

This is the first time that all the new iPhones will feature an OLED display, which, to be honest, is a much-needed upgrade from iPhone 11’s Super Retina LCD display.

    What Else?

    AirTags

Apple, along with the iPhone 12 lineup, could also announce long-awaited Apple AirTags. These were first tipped to be announced during this year’s WWDC, but, sadly, didn’t make it to the show. These AirTags will make the use of newer iPhone’s U1 chip to find objects.

There are some rumours of Apple announcing their first ever over-the-ear earphones — AirPods Studio — along with the new iPhones. A low cost HomePod may also be on the cards.
