At Apple’s ‘Unleashed’ Event, Apple announced the 3rd Gen AirPods that come in with a host of changes including Magsafe charging support and in-ear detection. Customizable features such as Adaptive EQ respond to different scenarios and adjust the lows and mids accordingly.
Another welcome feature is the support for Dolby Atmos and spatial sound while listening to music via Apple Music. Spatial sound was exclusive to AirPods Pro and AirPods Max before this launch. Always-on ‘Hey Siri’ command is also carried from the 2nd Gen AirPods. Both AirPods 3 and the Magsafe charging case are IPX4 sweat and water resistant.

Battery Life and Controls
The Magsafe charging case of the AirPods 3 promises 30 hours of listening time and a quick charge function. 5-minutes of charge can bring around 1 hour of listening time according to Apple. The Magsafe case is compatible with certified Magsafe chargers and also Qi charging if you already have one lying around.
A force-sensor is present on the stem of the AirPods 3 which brings a host of controls such as play, pause, and skip through songs, or answer and end calls. The AirPods 3 also bring in HD Facetime audio support, thanks to the AAC-ELD speech codec with support for Apple’s spatial audio.
