A new report now points to the existence of Navi 31 – a new GPU from AMD that was previously never mentioned anywhere. The report comes from HardwareLeaks which spotted references to the new GPU in macOS 11’s (Big Sur) GPU drivers.

HardwareLeaks suggests this might be a reference to future RDNA 3 cards. Given that we recently saw NVIDIA working on a new RTX 3090, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s actually another GPU different from AMD’s ‘Big Navi‘. Of course, we still know very little about RDNA 2, with the only substantial information being that it’ll be in the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

As far as public information is concerned, AMD has confirmed that their Big Navi card is really meant to tackle the high end enthusiasts needs. We’ve previosuly speculated that it will compete with the current highest-end graphics cards on the market – NVIDIA’s RTX 2080 Ti. However, with Ampere and RDNA 2 launching close to each other, perhaps AMD also wants to compete with that series?
We’ll have more information regarding Navi 31 as well as Big Navi soon. Until then, you might want to check out the refreshed Zen 2 XT CPUs if you’re looking for a PC upgrade.
