AirPods Max launched last year blew our expectations out of the water, solely with its price. But, don’t worry, Apple still has a new pair of AirPods for us — the AirPods 3. The Airpods 3 would cater to the huge base of AirPods users as this would essentially be the first proper redesign since the 1st Gen AirPods which went on sale in 2016 alongside the iPhone 7.
What To Expect From the AirPods 3?
We had earlier found insights into the new 3rd Gen model of the AirPods. Arguably, this might be the ‘entry-level’ AirPods that has been doing rumours. The newer AirPods Pro will sell above the AirPods 3.
The new AirPods 3 will take design cues from the AirPods Pro but will retain a the longer stem as in the AirPods 2nd Generation. It’s speculated that the AirPods 3 will get interchangeable silicone tips and pressure-sensitive controls inside the stems, just like the AirPods Pro.
Reports on GSMArena, also suggests that the AirPods 3 will miss out on ANC but will get spatial audio. ANC being ditched is understandable given the price and keeping the feature as a differentiating feature between the AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro.
The AirPods 3 might have passive noise cancellation aided by software tricks and silicone tips that physically seal the fit in the user’s ear. The 2nd Gen AirPods Pro might get a whole new noise cancellation technology increasing the gap by enhancing the music listening experience further on the higher-priced Pro model.
The charging case for the AirPods 3 will feature the same pebble-like rounded cuboid design albeit it might be smaller than the AirPods Pro case. The AirPods 3 case will support wireless charging and will have an indicator LED on the front.
It should be noted that expectations for improvement in sound quality on the AirPods 3 are fairly limited given that focus will primarily be on 2nd Gen AirPods Pro and the AirPods 3 will practically be the cheapest in the line-up.
The AirPods 2nd Gen powered by the H1 chip is now available on Apple Online Store India for Rs. 14,900 for the Standard Charging Case version and Rs. 18,900 for the Wireless Charging Case version.
