The HEDT CPU lineups from Intel and AMD are expected to launch in October with the former planning the release of the Cascade Lake-X chips and the latter expected to drop a 64 core Behemoth, set to lead the 3rd Gen Ryzen Threadripper lineup. As the date draws near, we’ve started seeing evidence of these high-end parts on various online benchmark databases. Today, a 10-core Cascade Lake-X CPU (Glacier Falls platform) has surfaced on Userbenchmark and gives us an idea about the specs of these Xtreme Edition processors.

This benchmark was conducted on a WorkStation rig packing 64GB of DDR4 memory and running the latest version of Windows 10. It’s a single-socket chip meaning that it indeed is a member of the Cascade Lake-X lineup. Considering that it’s a 10-core processor, it’s a mid-range offering in the segment with the top-end SKUs topping out at 18-24 cores. Userbench is suited for consumer CPUs, not workstation-based HEDT chips so don’t take the score seriously. Just analyze the specs. As you can see, it has timid clocks and higher thread counts which are suited for workloads like rendering, CAD, video-editing and so on. It’ll be interesting to see how Intel responds to AMD’s 64 core Threadrippers, as we’re pretty confident they’ll be needing at least 35-40 core-chips to counter it.
